Hadron Physics

From DESY

Hadron physics, with final goal to understand the nature of the material in the universe, sits at the interface between particle physics and nuclear physics whose degrees of freedom are quarks/gluons and several constituents, respectively. It also gets benefit from the above two subjects.

As the only manifestation of Quantum ChromoDynamics (QCD), hadrons are considered as a unique platform to shed light on the mystery of strong interaction. As the result, their classifications, the interactions among them, the underlying dynamics of their productions and decays, … are the focus of hadron physics. For instance, we study their static quantities, such as mass, size, magnetic moment and so on, and dynamic quantities, such as the distribution of charge and current and so on. Those kinds of studies will deepen our understanding of our universe.
